Methodology

Standards: how a competent assessor does the work.

01

BS 9792:2025

The current British Standard code of practice for fire risk assessment in housing. Replaces PAS 79-2:2020. Read the deep dive at /standards/bs-9792.

02

PAS 79

The publicly available specification that preceded BS 9792 (PAS 79-2:2020 for housing, PAS 79-1:2020 for general buildings). Still referenced in legacy reports.

Software

How FRA Flow handles all of this.

FRA Flow is housing-focused fire risk assessment software designed around the BS 9792:2025 methodology, with the FSO and BSA 2022 dutyholder model wired into the data structure. Observations, photos and locations are first-class records. Findings carry their evidence into the report. The reviewer queue separates work waiting for sign-off from work the assessor still has open. Sign-off is a two-signature event with a content hash, a timestamp and an audit trail.
